Senior Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer

Location: London, UK

Job Type: Full-time, hybrid

Company Overview:

MintNeuro is an innovative startup at the dynamic intersection of neurotechnology and semiconductors. We are pioneering integrated circuit solutions for implantable medical devices targeting the management and treatment of neurological conditions. Our goal is to deliver scalable, less invasive, and highly efficient devices that transform neurological care.

Job Summary:

As a Senior Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer, you will contribute to the development of high-performance mixed-signal integrated circuits for neural interface applications. You will engage in an end-to-end design process, from initial specification to post-silicon testing and validation. Your role will be critical in shaping the future of neural technology, with opportunities to lead customer-facing projects and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • IC Development: Design integrated circuit solutions for neural implants, covering the full design process from concept, architecture, and specification to mixed-signal integration, layout, and testing.

  • System design collaboration: Work with the engineering team to define architectures and specifications, optimising system partitioning to meet performance targets.

  • Circuit Design & Simulation: Perform transistor-level design, pre- and post-layout simulation, and physical verification for analogue/mixed-signal blocks such as amplifiers, filters, references, data converters and digital blocks such as shift registers, counters, finite state machines, and serial interfaces.

  • Tapeout & Post-Silicon Testing: Carry out top-level system integration, verification, tapeout checks, and lab-based silicon evaluation, ensuring successful post-silicon validation, characterisation, and production testing.

  • Innovation & Product Development: Contribute to the development of cutting-edge circuit architectures for neural implant applications, providing inputs to product roadmaps and selecting appropriate technology nodes.

  • Documentation & Review: Capture designs according to regulatory standards, producing detailed documentation for quality assurance and participating in peer design reviews to ensure compliance and design robustness.

  • Project & Customer Collaboration: Manage workloads to project timelines, participate in customer-facing engagements, and ensure professional communication with external partners and stakeholders, with the opportunity to lead both internal and collaborative projects.

Experience and Skills:

  • Essential:

    • Master's or PhD in Electronic Engineering or Microelectronics.

    • 5+ years of experience in analogue/mixed-signal IC design (or PhD + 3 years of relevant industry experience).

    • Expert knowledge of low-power CMOS analogue circuit design fundamentals.

    • Experience in digital (standard cell) design flow and top-level system integration.

    • Experience with layout design and physical verification workflows.

    • Proficient in Cadence tools for schematic capture, synthesis, simulation, place and route, layout, and physical verification.

    • Demonstrated experience in high-performance custom analogue or mixed-signal IC design.

    • Hands-on experience in managing full-chip design to tape-out and post-silicon validation.

    • Knowledge of Verilog-A/AMS for mixed-signal simulation.

    • Strong team player with exceptional attention to detail.

    Desirable:

    • Familiarity with power management circuits (e.g., voltage regulators, DC-to-DC converters).

    • Knowledge of circuits specific to neural interfaces and implantable systems.

    • Experience with quality standards (e.g., ISO9001, ISO13485).

    • Experience managing R&D projects or engineering teams.

    • Previous startup experience is highly beneficial.

What We Offer:

  • Work Environment: Dynamic, innovative, and inclusive workplace culture.

  • Location Perks: Offices and labs located in the heart of London.

  • Flexible Working: Hybrid model, allowing up to 50% remote work.

  • Compensation: Competitive salary with a comprehensive benefits package and access to our company share options pool.

  • Purpose: Be part of a mission-driven team dedicated to making a positive impact on millions of lives worldwide.

Application:

We recognise that expertise comes in many forms and that passion drives progress. Even if your experience doesn’t perfectly align with every qualification in this job description, we encourage you to apply. We value a diverse range of perspectives and foster an inclusive environment, which opens doors for individuals committed to making an impact in our industry.
